Map of Bradford County, PA
The following map, from Craft's History of Bradford County (see
citation below), shows the ten (10) townships that existed when
the county was organized and established with a local government
at Towanda. Even though the county was created in 1810, as Ontario
County, it was not until 1812 when the state legislature authorized
a county government.
The map also shows, using the dotted line, what land was obtained
from Lycoming County and what land came from Luzerne County. Note
also that Lycoming County extends across the entire southern border;
today much of that border is shared with Sullivan County.
