This family originated, as so many Colonial Germans in North America
did, in the Palatines area of what is Germany today. This region
was trampled over by the Thirty Years War when England put forth
a call for volunteers to emigrate to her American colonies in exchange
for work. Many of these people were already looking for a better
life and this offer appealed to many.
