Johann Conrad MENGES was born about 1730 in Germany, possibly from Wirtemberg. He married three times:

• Margaretha about 1753
  • Maria Elizabetha Menges was born in April 1754 in Germany. She married Henty LAUCKS in 1776.
• Ana Maria about 1756
  • Johann Conrad Menges (Jr) was born 24 Sep 1757
• Susan Catharine about 1766 (no issue)

Conrad immigrated to the Pennsylvania in 1754. Many people with the Menges emigrated from Germany between 1710 and 1775, and the Menges Family Association of America (MFAA) can help you with many of them. Conrad is coded as "F1" -- "F" being his MFAA code and "1" indicating he was the immigrant.

Conrad appears in the old Williams Township (Twp) Church records on 24 Sep 1757. The church was located about 4 miles from the Delaware River on a road leading from Raubsville to Hellertown. It was the largest Lutheran congregation of that period in America. A fire from the top of the hill could be seen for 40 miles around. The record documents the baptism of his son Johann Conrad Jr.

Conrad died 9 Dec 1797 in Forks Twp, Northampton Co, PA on his farm.
