They had five boys and one girl. 1879 Minnie A MINGOS (David-5, John-4, Conrad-3, Conrad-2, Conrad-1) was born 22 Dec 1879 at Liberty Corners in the township of Monroe, Bradford Co, PA. She was a surprise baby, coming nearly 22 years after her sister Mary E (1857-1942) and 20 years after her brother John S (1859-1921). She married Henry Homer SPENCER, had four children, and divorced him sometime after 1910. She later married Frank DOTY. 1880 Jeremiah Michael SHAY (1) married Jane A GRADY (Patrick-1) in Mar 1880 while living in the village of Millport, Town of Veteran, Chemung Co, NY. They had 14 children, 12 of whom lived to maturity. Following this family means following the NY Central RR and the S&NY RR. William KEEN (John) died at Standing Stone Township, Bradford Co, PA 9 Sep 1880. He was buried at Keen Summit Cemetery in that place. 1883 James CRAWN (Peter) died 8 Dec 1883 at Standing Stone Township, Bradford Co, PA. He was buried at Keen Summit Cemetery in that town. His gravestone indicates he died Dec 8, 1883 at the age of 72. Elizabeth KEEN nee HUFF (Peter-2, Jacobus-1) died 10 Apr 1883 at Standing Stone Township, Bradford Co, PA. She was buried near her husband William KEEN at the Keen Summit Cemetery in that place. 1885 Esther SPENCER nee BROWNELL w/o Lyman-7 died 10 Mar 1885 at Mt. Lake, Burlington Township, Bradford Co, PA. She was buried at the Mt. Lake Cemetery in that town. 1887 John O HUFF (William) died 17 Feb 1887 at Standing Stone Township, Bradford Co, PA of stomach ailments which had plagued him since the Civil War. He was buried at Keen Summit Cemetery in Standing Stone. His obituary, in the Bradford Republican on 24 Feb 1887, incorrectly identified his service with the 7th New Jersey Volunteers instead of the 9th. His gravestone reads "John O HUFF, Co E, 9th Reg. NJ Vol., Nov 22, 1837 -- Feb 17, 1887." 1889 Joseph Franklin WILLIAMS (Albert-4, John-3, Alexander-2, Matthew-1) married Sarah Margaret HUFF (John, William, ...) about 18 Mar 1889 according to the Marriage Docket found at the Bradford County Courthouse in Towanda, Bradford Co, PA. Very little information was completed on the marriage application and no information was provided by the Justice of the Peace or the attending minister. Frank and Maggie, as they identified themselves on the application, were both quite young. Their children included: Joseph Edward (1889-1940); Alberta (1892-1961); Clarence Albert (1893-1974); Minnie Margaret (1896-1963); Roy John (1898-1978); Florence Mary (1901-1993); Harry Kenneth (1904-1971); Dorothy Edith (1907-1908); and Grace Irene (1909-1991). 1892 John WILLIAMS (Alexander-2, Matthew-1) died 26 May 1892 in Sussex Co, NJ. He was buried at the Branchville Cemetery. Joseph Eugene DALY (James-1, Michael-A) was born 4 Aug 1892 at Sayre, Bradford Co, PA. 1893 Elizabeth L SHAY (Jeremiah-1) was born 4 Oct 1893 at Blackwell, Tioga Co, PA. This village no longer exists but was located in the southeast corner of the county. She married Joseph Eugene DALY (James-1). Nelson took over his maternal grandfather's farm in southern Burlington Twp, Bradford Co, PA. He was named for his grandfather, Nelson DUNN. 1896 Minnie Margaret WILLIAMS (Joseph-5, Albert-4, John-3, Alexander-2, Matthew-1) was born 6 Oct 1896 at Standing Stone Township, Bradford Co, PA. 1897 Henry Homer SPENCER (Henry-8, Lyman-7, Enoch-6, Theophilus-5, Michael-4, Robert-3, John-2, Michael-1, Gerard-A, Michael-B, John-C) married Minnie A MINGOS (David-5, John-4, Conrad-3, Conrad-2, Conrad-1) on 10 Nov 1897 at the bride's home in Burlington Township, Bradford Co, PA. She was the daughter of D. S. MINGOS. The ceremony was conducted by Rev. J. H. BRETTON. [Bradford Star, 25 Nov 1897; Bradford Journal, 25 Nov 1897] They had four children, 3 of whom reached maturity: Jay Ralph (1898-1982); Ethel M (1899-1964) died in an auto accident; Raymond (1903-1905); and Ida Belle (1908-1926) committed suicide. Homer and Minnie divorced after 1910. 1898 Yellow Fever Stalks Soldiers and Civilians Alike in Cuba -- During the Spanish-American War where the US wrested control of Cuba and the Philippines from Spain yellow fever broke out in the army camps. Doctors did not yet understand how the disease spread but, through experiments with volunteers, learned the hard way. Only 968 soldiers died in battle but 5,000 were lost to yellow fever. Lyman SPENCER (Enoch-6, Theophilus-5, Michael-4, Robert-3, John-2, Michael-1, Gerard-A, Michael-B, John-C) died 17 Apr 1898 at Mt. Lake, Burlington Township, Bradford Co, PA. He was buried at the Mt. Lake Cemetery in that town. Jay Ralph SPENCER (Henry-9, Henry-8, Lyman-7, Enoch-6, Theophilus-5, Michael-4, Robert-3, John-2, Michael-1, Gerard-A, Michael-B, John-C) was born 15 Oct 1898 at Burlington Township, Bradford Co, PA. Sarah Ann CRAWN nee KEEN (William, John) w/o James CRAWN died 21 Mar 1898 and was buried at Keen Summit Cemetery in Standing Stone Township, Bradford Co, PA where she lived. Her gravestone, next to her husband's (James CRAWN) reads "Sarah Ann wife, d Mar 21, 1898, 77 y".
